This is not a joke. This is a new journal which will publish its first issue this month. I have called them and know that their website is under construction now. We can know whether it is a joke or not when its first issue is released.
I don't know but they're website is still under construction. If it has been under construction for the longest time, I don't think this is legit.
Unfortunately, Journal of Business and Economics appears to be a scam. I responded in April, 2011, my paper was accepted (without revision or benefit of reviewer comments), and I just received my acceptance letter today (Aug 1st). The letter outlines the journal policy - $50.00 per page that I am requred to pay to cover "publication costs" ...
By the way, far as I can see, the journal still does not have a website. Academic, beware!!

I've looked for the website but I was not able to find a list of published article at http://academicstar.us
So I've ask for more information about the journal website and I get: "Our websites are now revising, which will be finished soon.

Considering the website seems to have been under construction since at least november 2010 (according to Willson) I am very suspicious about this publishing offer.

I got a similar message from Aaron last Tuesday and was considering seriously till today. Just before sending a reply, I thought of doing a search and what a discovery.
My sincere thanks to everyone for sharing your stories.
I just got this scam email as well. It appears they just watch for conference presentations and let you know that they are interested in publishing your paper (obviously, for big bucks). I was looking for information on them when I found this site, so now I won't waste any more of my time trying to see if they are listed in Cabell's.

Mine (received about 10 days ago) is from Amy and has a Yahoo email address at the end as one of the options to send my paper. I wonder how someone is smart enough to create a spam that can generate him (I'm sure it's a 'him' because he insists on using the names of Amy and Beth!) thousands of dollars ($50 per page ripped from the author?!?) and at the same time be stupid enough to put a Yahoo email address at the end. Interesting ...
He also needs to work a little bit harder to perfect the English in the clearly auto-generated email message sent.

Fascinating! Amy wants to publish my paper in her "Journal". Oddly, the paper she wants to publish has already been published in many other places and they allegedly only accept "previously unpublished" works. The scam must pay off somehow!

Same here, from our common "friend" Amy... Both me and my co-author got the exact same mail. Email addresses and names clearly ripped from a conference site of an academic conference that both of us attended (over a year ago).
Many thanks for sharing your stories, I got the same thing from "Amy" last week, so you saved me a lot of time. I thought it must be a joke when I could not find them listed even in Cabells. FYI, the latest version is signed by just "Amy" with no last name or title (what journal editor does that!), and then her email address is to "Andy@..". See below. This is definitely a scam.... or else the lowest ranked journal on the planet!

I got one the other day. However, before finding this blog, I checked "EconLit" and the journal of business and economics is listed in there!! It definitely sounds like a scam but how do we explain the indexing? Can someone please explain. I thought EconLit only indexes legit pubs.
