Amtrak does high speed rail

Damn Arbor notes Amtrak's performance on the Ann Arbor to Detroit run.

I sometimes think about taking the train rather than flying when going to Chicago, but it is always statistics like this that get in my way. Perhaps Amtrak should focus on being on time with their current schedule first, then try to go faster.

The Detroit - Chicago Megabus is convenient, relatively cheap (compared to flying) and has outlets and occasionally working wifi. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the link! To be fair, much of the blame for the current delays lies with Norfolk Southern. I used to take Amtrak between Ann Arbor and Chicago a few times a year between 2006 and 2008 and back then the train was usually just 70-100 minutes late. You do make a good point: Amtrak would be much more appealing if it were reasonable to expect it to be on time.
