The Michigan Theater does a bit of repertory programming now and again and last night it showed Breakfast at Tiffany's from 1961. Wow! Audrey Hepburn is simply amazing and George Peppard (remember him from the A-Team or, for those my age, from Banachek?) is so amazingly young. The party scene is one of the funniest things I have ever seen - perfectly written and choreographed and acted. And, for modern viewers, there is the extra thrill that comes from the wild political incorrectness of Mickey Rooney as the Japanese landlord, the poor cat being tossed about without supervision from the Humane Society and the almost constant smoking.
Highly recommended.
